Veteran actress Neetu Kapoor is busy promoting her latest film, Daadi Ki Shaadi. The family drama, directed by Ashish R. Mohan, hit the big screens on May 8. Besides Neetu, the movie also features her daughter and Ranbir Kapoor’s elder sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. The movie marks Riddhima’s Bollywood debut, after her appearance in the popular Netflix series Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives. Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma, R Sarathkumar, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Aditi Mittal, and Sadia Khateeb are also a part of Daadi Ki Shaadi.

Soon after Daadi Ki Shaadi’s theatrical premiere, Neetu Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni appeared on the 39th episode of Soha Ali Khan’s YouTube podcast All About Her, where the mother-daughter duo wore their hearts on their sleeves, talking about a diverse range of topics featuring their new film, the family dynamics, and the parenting techniques of the Kapoor kin.

Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor’s parenting style

One stand-out moment from the conversation took place when Neetu Kapoor shared how Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were raising their daughter Raha. While the 67-year-old praised the couple as parents, she also highlighted their contrasting parenting styles. Neetu revealed that Alia is a strict parent, and Raha is scared of her, which makes the 4-year-old obey her mother.

On the contrary, Ranbir Kapoor is like a friend to his 4-year-old daughter. ‘He does all the fun and masti with her,’ disclosed Neetu Kapoor. Although the veteran star lauded Alia for teaching Raha ‘the right things’, such as no unnecessary screen time, Neetu admitted that her daughter-in-law does not allow her to spoil her granddaughter, causing light-hearted disagreements. ‘I am always fighting with her, saying, ‘Alia, at least let me give her (Raha) one chocolate’’, recalled Neetu, adding that Alia discourages the idea, stating that sugar is bad for Raha.

Later in the interaction, Neetu Kapoor shared her two cents on how parenting methods have evolved over time. She admitted that there is much more awareness among modern parents about what is right for their kids, unlike in the past. Citing an example, the film veteran remembered how her children, Ranbir and Riddhima, would watch television every day while eating. ‘They would watch Bhagwan Dada and Amar Akbar Anthony during meals,’ said Neetu.
