The 2026 Indian Premier League’s off-field turmoil takes another turn as reports have suggested that both the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) have taken strict action against player behaviour to maintain the decorum of the franchise and the tournament. 

According to Dainik Jagran, a franchise has put a temporary ban on a certain player’s vlogging during the tournament, whilst also reporting that another player from the same team, who was caught smoking, missed his flight to Dharmashala yesterday and will join the team later today. 

It is easy to join the dots and find that the team in question is the Punjab Kings, with both Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal the two players being talked about. Arshdeep has an extremely strong presence on social media, with the left-arm pacer making short reels and showing behind-the-scenes content, which has been very popular with cricket fans in the country. However, PBKS have put a temporary ban on his vlogging to make things more professional off the field. 

Earlier this week, meanwhile, a video went viral on the internet where Chahal was seen vaping/smoking inside an aircraft, which is prohibited by law. He was the player in question when the reports talked about a player missing his flight to Dharamshala. 

PBKS are set to play their first game in Dharamshala on Monday, May 11, when they take on the Delhi Capitals in Match 55 of the 2026 IPL. 

PBKS are not the only side to bring strict rules to maintain off-field decency. According to the same aforementioned report, DC have allowed the families of players and support staff to take photos and videos from the team hotel to create memories, but are not allowed to share them on social media until the end of the tournament. 

This comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made it clear that no player should violate the guidelines, suggesting that no person, irrespective of their identity, relationship to the team member, or stated purpose, shall be permitted entry into a player's or support staff member's hotel room without the prior knowledge and explicit written approval of the Team Manager.

These new guidelines have been the reason behind PBKS' decision to put a temporary ban on Arshdeep's excessive usage of social media.
