Italian PM Giorgia Meloni: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has publicly refuted objectionable deepfake photos of herself circulating online. He said the incident shows how artificial intelligence can be used to mislead people and damage their reputation. PM Meloni has expressed strong objection to the pictures going viral. Meloni has called it a dangerous weapon which is being used by his opponents to tarnish his image.

On Tuesday, Italy’s prime minister shared this edited photo on her Facebook page along with a screenshot of a user named “Roberto” who had re-shared it, saying he should be “ashamed”. On this occasion, Meloni appealed to the people to check the authenticity of anything before trusting it and sharing it.
