Delhi: Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central cabinet has made a significant nationwide decision today. The government has officially approved a proposal to grant 'Vande Mataram' the same constitutional status as the national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana'. This historic move effectively eliminates the constitutional distinction between the national song and the national anthem.
To implement this decision, significant amendments will be made to the 'Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act'. Under the new provisions, anyone who deliberately insults 'Vande Mataram' or obstructs its singing could face up to three years in prison and hefty fines.
Following this decision, it will now be mandatory for 'Vande Mataram' to be played alongside the national anthem at all government events and constitutional functions. The government believes this decision is a revolutionary step towards strengthening national pride and honoring the country's glorious history.
This decision is being viewed in political circles as a major victory for 'cultural nationalism'. While opposition parties are yet to respond in detail, there is significant public support for this decision observed on social media.
