A UK bathroom company is on a brink of administration after it filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator. Bathroom pod specialist Offsite Engineered Products UK Ltd (OEP UK), which is based in Lancaster, was incorporated in May 2019.
Offsite Engineered Products UK Ltd (OEP UK) has filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator. Its sister company OEP Building Services went into administration in 2021 owing 135 suppliers £1.7million, according to the Construction Enquirier. OEP UK acquired OEP Building Services in a pre-pack deal worth £85,000, led by managing director Iain Crabtree.
Since completing the purchase, the company has secured several podsupply contracts with major contractors and developers. According to construction data firm Red Flag Alert, OEP UK now has an estimated turnover of around £5.8 million.
Companies House filings show that Iain Crabtree previously served as a director for several modular construction businesses that have since been dissolved, including Offsite Engineered Panels UK Ltd and OEP Partnership LLP, reports Construction Enquirer.
According to a major financier involved in modulardependent developments, this latest company administration has further heightened scrutiny of the modular sector and raised fresh concerns about its stability.
He said: "We're seeing increased scrutiny across the sector, particularly around quality, compliance and traceability.
"From a funding perspective, construction is now about managing long-term risk. These are assets held for decades - certainty is critical.
"That comes down to the supply chain. Safety, consistency, proven delivery and full traceability are non-negotiable. Where those aren't present, risk isn't removed-it's simply pushed further down the line."
