wore a saree woven with gold threads
The special thing is that the saree that Isha Ambani wore at the 2026 Met Gala was hand-woven with pure gold threads by indigenous artisans. Swadesh is a special retail brand launched by Reliance Retail for artisans. It took more than 50 artisans more than 1,200 hours to create this magnificent attire, which is a unique combination of textile weaving expertise, jewelery craftsmanship and traditional techniques.
wore a diamond studded blouse
Along with a saree woven with gold threads, Isha wore a specially designed blouse in which real diamonds were studded. The back of the blouse was decorated with a precious historical artefact. In an interview given to Vogue on the red carpet, Ambani said, ‘This blouse is decorated with my mother’s jewellery. Designer Gaurav Gupta wrote in the post, this blouse is studded with more than 1,800 carats of diamonds, emeralds, and kundan, making it a living example of heritage and art.
1,200 hours of hard work to make the saree
Isha Ambani’s saree was equally unique and magnificent which gave a royal touch to her entire outfit. This saree was woven with pure gold threads whose shine was visible from a distance. A team of 25 artisans worked together to make Isha’s saree and paid complete attention to every smallest detail. It took more than 1,200 hours to make this beautiful saree. Which is proof of the tremendous hard work and excellent workmanship put into it. This is the reason why this style of Isha presents an unmatched example of Indian artistry on the world stage.
wore more than 200 diamonds
The most special part of her look was her diamond studded blouse. It is said that the idea of this piece was given by Nita Ambani herself. This cloth was studded with more than 200 diamonds which were brought from old mines. All these diamonds were taken from Nita Ambani’s own collection and were hand stitched on the blouse. She completed her look with two necklaces of diamonds of different sizes, each weighing more than 250 carats. To finalize her outfit, she also wore a hathphool and diamond waistband.
