New Delhi: Rainfall activity along with thunderstorms and lightning will likely continue across Hyderabad and most parts of Telangana till May 7, the India Meteorological Department said. The IMD also issued a yellow alert for districts in the state.
The change in weather is due to upper-air circulations and moisture incursion. The phenomenon will likely trigger thunderstorms in different parts of the state. The rain will bring temperatures several notches down. The temperature in some areas may fall by around 2-4 degrees Celsius after the rain spell.
Hyderabad weather prediction for today
Like most parts of the state, Hyderabad has also been placed under a yellow alert for today, Wednesday. The city is likely to witness light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds and thundershowers over the next two days.
The temperature will fall by 2-5 degrees Celsius in the city over the next two days, with the maximum temperature predicted to remain below 39°C between May 5 and 8. This will come as a huge respite for the people of Hyderabad grappling with heatwave-like conditions.
“Partly cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur towards evening or night,” the IMD said.
The maximum temperature in Hyderabad is likely to be 38°C today, while the minimum temperature is projected at 27°C. The sunrise will occur at 5.48 am, while the sunset is predicted at 6.38 pm.
Prediction for Telangana
While most parts of the state have been placed under a yellow alert, an orange alert is also in place for some districts. These include Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Mahabubabad and Nagarkurnool. The alert will remain in effect till May 7.
IMD has advised people to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning activity, especially in open areas.
The state has been grappling with heatwave-like conditions for the past several days, as temperatures remained constantly above 41°C.
