Over three months have passed since Nancy Guthrie, the mother of television host Savannah Guthrie, went missing, and investigators report that they have not yet found any credible leads. Guthrie was last seen at her residence in Tucson on February 1, 2026, and authorities quickly concluded that she had been kidnapped. Following her disappearance, her family received multiple ransom demands totaling millions in cryptocurrency, which the FBI later deemed untrustworthy.

Authorities have not received any further communication from the alleged kidnapper. Investigators are currently analyzing forensic evidence gathered from the scene and reviewing footage from a doorbell camera that captured a masked figure. This case will be featured in an upcoming television special titled NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery, which will delve into the investigation and examine various theories surrounding the case.

Hosted by journalist Brian Entin, the program will include insights from criminal profilers such as Ann Burgess, Gary Brocato, and Casey Jordan. In a preview, the panel debated whether the individual seen on the footage acted independently or as part of a larger scheme. Dr. Burgess proposed a chilling possibility: "That person [on Nancy’s stoop] may have been eliminated," suggesting that the individual could have been killed by a superior to erase evidence. "It was meticulously planned. They managed to evade capture and executed a type of case we have not encountered before, as far as we know," she added.

While similar theories have emerged online in recent months, law enforcement has stated there is no evidence indicating the involvement of multiple individuals. Discussing the upcoming program, Entin remarked, "I believe viewers will find the special intriguing because the profilers present captivating theories based on their previous cases and statistical analysis. They are keenly focused on patterns from other crimes and kidnappings to help identify potential motives and the identity of the suspect." The investigation continues to unfold.
