Introduction

On weekends, many of us crave something delicious and crispy. If you're tired of the usual snacks like samosas and pakoras, it's time to try Sooji Chilli Rings. These rings are not only crunchy on the outside but also soft on the inside, making them an ideal snack for any occasion, from kids' lunchboxes to evening tea. Today, we will guide you through the simple process of making these delightful rings, perfect for your weekend tea time.

Ingredients

1 cup semolina (सूजी)

2 cups water

2 tablespoons oil

1 teaspoon chili flakes

Finely chopped coriander leaves

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

½ teaspoon crushed black pepper

Preparation of Sooji Chilli Rings

Start by heating 2 cups of water in a pan. Add cumin seeds, salt, chili flakes, and a tablespoon of oil to the boiling water. Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low.

Gradually add the semolina to the water while continuously stirring with your other hand to prevent lumps from forming. Keep stirring until the semolina absorbs all the water and forms a dough.

Turn off the heat and cover the semolina for about 5 minutes to allow it to cook in the steam. Once it’s slightly warm, transfer it to a wide plate.

Mix in the finely chopped coriander and black pepper. Grease your hands with a little oil and knead the mixture for about 3 to 4 minutes until it becomes smooth. Then, break off small portions and roll them into long sticks.

Join the ends of each stick to form a ring. Prepare all the rings in this manner and place them on a plate. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.

Fry the rings in the hot oil until they turn golden and crispy. Once done, remove them and place them on tissue paper. Serve with your favorite chutney or ketchup.
