Sangeetha Sornalingam, the wife of Tamil superstar and TVK chief Thalapathy Vijay, is one of the wealthiest women in Tamil Nadu’s film and political circles.

Reports suggest her personal net worth exceeds Rs 400 crore, largely inherited from her family’s successful business empire. She is the daughter of a prominent London-based Sri Lankan Tamil industrialist named Sornalingam.

Born into a wealthy Sri Lankan Tamil family, Sangeetha grew up in London. She first became a fan of Vijay after watching his 1996 film Poove Unakkaga.

Impressed by the actor, she travelled from London to Chennai just to meet him. What started as fan admiration soon turned into friendship and later love.

The couple got married on August 25, 1999, in a ceremony that blended both Christian and Hindu rituals. They have three children together.

Sangeetha Sornalingam’s wealth primarily comes from her family’s business interests and investments. Her family has strong business connections in London and other international markets.

According to multiple reports, her net worth is estimated at over Rs 400 crore. According to her husband and TVK Chief, Vijay's election affidavit, she holds Rs. 1 lakh in cash, three bank deposits worth Rs 10 crore, Rs 47 lakh and Rs 97,000.

She also owns 2 kilos of silver, 3132 grams of gold worth around Rs 4 crore and diamonds around 135 carots worth about Rs 1 crore.

She is known to handle significant family business responsibilities and maintains properties and ventures in the UK.

Thalapthy Vijay’s Assets and Loan to Wife

In his recent election affidavit filed for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, Thalapathy Vijay declared total assets worth over Rs 600 crore.

Interestingly, this includes a Rs 12.6 crore loan given to his wife Sangeetha.

While Sangeetha’s declared assets in the affidavit were much lower (around Rs 15-16 crore), independent estimates of her personal and family wealth put her net worth at Rs 400 crore or more.
