New Delhi. Parent company Meta has released an important security update regarding the world’s largest messaging app WhatsApp. The company has confirmed that two technical vulnerabilities found in the app have now been fixed, which could pose a risk to the security of users in certain circumstances. The first flaw was to WhatsApp Desktop on Windows systems, which had a problem with attachment spoofing. In this, any file could look like a genuine document, but when opened, it could run dangerous code.
The second flaw was to the processing of media files on both Android and iOS platforms. In certain circumstances, external content could be processed incorrectly and affect the system.
