Despite three consecutive matches without a win in the Indian Super League, head coach Petr Kratky says his team have the fighting spirit to do well in their last home game this season against East Bengal FC at the Mumbai Football Arena in Andheri on Tuesday.
Mumbai City are fourth in the table with 19 points after 10 games, while East Bengal are fifth with 18 points in nine matches. In their last three matches, Mumbai City drew with Jamshedpur 1-1, lost to FC Goa 0-2, and played out a goalless draw with Bengaluru FC. Mumbai’s last three games of the season, including the home game against East Bengal, are away fixtures with Mohammedan SC and Punjab FC.
“I’m always positive, and if there’s something wrong, I will tell them [players]. They know when I’m not happy with the energy or performance of individuals. We played away in Jamshedpur after a short turnaround, we almost won that game. Then we went to Goa, where we slipped and got punished. Then we went to Bengaluru, where it was a very positive start, we almost won that game too. So, there are positive signs in the group,” Kratky told mid-day during a pre-match press conference on Monday. “They [players] want to fight, we have three games to go, nothing to lose, so we have to fight to win every game. We play the last home game . We must make sure it counts and just push until the end,” he added.
