TalkTV host Mark Dolan has claimed that there is "trouble in paradise" for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Speaking to Sky News host Paul Murray, the presenter pointed out that the Duchess of Sussex is facing a "huge humiliation" over the Met Gala.

The pristine event, due to take place today on May 4, doesn't have the guest list published in advance, but you can expect to see a huge number of A-listers on the night. One person who has reportedly been "snubbed" from the occasion is Meghan. Mark laughed: "There's trouble in paradise. Do you have access to the world's smallest violin because Meghan Markle's big commercial ambitions, Paul, are as a retail giant in the world of fashion." He added: "It's not going that well, because she cannot get a ticket to the Met Ball... this is the big fashion event of the year in New York.

"Apparently, the queen of fashion, Anna Wintour... she controls everything, and she has said no to Meghan. It's a big humiliation.

"And it's also a financial headache, because that's how Megs was going to make her money selling clobber to the great unwashed."

NewsNation has suggested Meghan was pinning her hopes on links to A-listers like Serena Williams and Beyoncé Knowles Carter to "help her land an invite".

To add salt to the potential wound, many other royals have been invited to the gala in the past, including Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, who attended the glittering event in both 1995 and 1996.

Meanwhile, Harry's cousin, Princess Beatrice, was invited in 2018, and other royals who have been include Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Queen Rania of Jordan.

It was previously reported in past years that Meghan chose to avoid the glitz and glamour of the Met Gala as she "she wouldn't have been anywhere near the big player in the room".

Kieran Elsby, director of Media Global PR, suggests that Meghan may have chosen not to attend due to the competition for attention.

Speaking to The Mirror, he said: "I'm sure if she would have attended as she would not of made many headlines, with so much competition.

"It comes back to celebrities wanting 'All Eyes On Me' and she wouldn't have been anywhere near the big player in the room. So best to duck, dive and avoid, until she can find an event all about her."
