RCB's star player Phil Salt has returned home. The reason for his return home is related to his injury. Royal Challengers Bangalore never said anything officially about Salt's injury, but according to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, Phil Salt has a finger injury. Salt has returned to England only for a scan of his finger injury. This means that he will not be seen playing for RCB in some more matches. Phil Salt was out of the team for the last 3 matches due to injury.
When, where, how did Phil Salt get injured?
According to ESPN Cricinfo, Phil Salt has an injury to the finger of his left hand. He suffered this injury while fielding at the boundary during the sixth over in the match played against Delhi Capitals on April 18. While diving and trying to stop the ball, he injured his fingers. Now that there is news of his return home, it means that Jacob Bethel will be seen opening along with Virat Kohli in future too.
When will Phil Salt return from England?
Phil Salt is a player under the central contract of ECB and has returned home only on the request of the England cricket team management, where his fingers will be scanned. Both Phil Salt and RCB are hopeful of a quick recovery from the finger injury. Phil Salt was in tremendous form. Before the injury in IPL 2026, he had scored 202 runs in 6 matches played. It is expected that Salt can return to India by the end of this month.
Bethel instead of Salt, performance has been like this till now
Jacob Bethel, who is opening with Virat Kohli in place of Phil Salt, has not yet made an impact as per his ability in IPL 2026. He has scored only 39 runs in the 3 innings played so far. In such a situation, if RCB reaches the playoffs, which is expected, then it will be very important for Phil Salt to be at that important stage. However, it will depend on what his injury is like.
