The counting of votes has begun across seven assembly seats in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tripura and Nagaland. The constituencies where the results for bypolls elections will be declared today are: Bagalkot and Davanagere South in Karnataka, Baramati and Rahuri in Maharashtra, Koridang in Nagaland, Dharmanagar in Tripura, and Umreth in Gujarat. The Bombay High Court had declared the bypoll in Goa's Ponda constituency as "null and void".

It is expected for Sunetra Pawar to get a comfortable victory as no major political party has fielded a candidate against her. NCP has a stronghold in the Baramati region which might give her an advantage. A voter turnout of 58.27 per cent was recorded in the Baramati assembly constituency.
Sunetra Pawar was leading her rivals by a wide margin in the Baramati assembly bypoll even as counting is underway. She secured 26,773 votes by the end of the third round of counting.
In Davanagere South, bypolls polls were necessitated by the deaths of senior Congress MLAs H Y Meti (Bagalkot) and Shamanur Shivashankarappa. According to the Election Commission of India, the voter turnout here was 68.43 per cent.
The BJP fielded a fresh face, Srinivas T Dasakariyappa, from Davanagere South. The Congress gave tickets to family members of the late legislator. Samarth Mallikarjun from Davanagere South is the grandson of Shamanur Shivashankarappa. Samarth's father, S S Mallikarjun, is a minister in the Siddaramaiah-led Cabinet and in charge of Davanagere district, while his mother, Prabha Mallikarjun, is a Member of Parliament from the region.
In the 2023 Assembly elections, H Y Meti defeated BJP's Charantimath by a margin of 5,878 votes in Bagalkot, while Shivashankarappa defeated BJP's B G Ajay Kumar by 27,888 votes in Davanagere South.
Harshad Parmar is the son of four-term MLA Govind Parmar, who died on March 6 at the age of 72 after a brief illness. It is the first major election for Harshad Parmar. Congress nominee Bhrugurajsinh Chauhan, a 62-year-old seasoned local leader, also contested his first assembly election.

The bypoll election in Maharashtra's Baramati is crucial for Sunetra Pawar and the poll was necessitated after the then Deputy CM and Nationalist Congress Party president Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash on January 28. In Maharashtra's Rahuri in Ahilyanagar district, bypoll was necessary after the death of BJP MLA Shivaji Kardile in October last year. His son Akshay Kardile contested the bypoll as a BJP candidate. His rivals include NCP (SP) nominee Govind Mokate and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi's Santosh Chalke. In Rahuri too, BJP's Akshay Kardile was ahead of his rivals, as per trends available so far on the Election Commission's website. In Bagalkot, the BJP has fielded former MLA and 2023 defeated candidate Veerabhadrayya Charantimath. He is pitted against Congress' Umesh Meti, the son of H Y Meti in Bagalkot. Vote counting for the Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency by lection began Monday in Tripura under tight security. Six candidates in fray, but main contest between BJP, CPI(M) and Congress. Bypoll held after the death of Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen in December 2025. BJP's Jahar Chakraborti is leading with more than 30,000 votes , the ECI data showed at 12.15 pm.(With PTI inputs)
