New Delhi: Two teenagers stranded atop a water tank in Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh were rescued by the Indian Air Force on Sunday after an operation lasting nearly 15 hours.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at a Kanshiram housing complex, where five children had climbed a water tank allegedly to make social media reels. The staircase reportedly collapsed, causing three of them to fall. A 10-year-old boy died, while two others sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a medical college.

The children were identified as Golu (12), Sunny (14), Siddharth (10), Pavan (14) and Shaban (12). While Golu, Sunny and Siddharth fell down, Pavan and Shaban got struck.
Following the incident, local authorities launched rescue efforts. A team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the spot in the evening, but heavy rain and lack of safe access prevented immediate evacuation.
Officials stayed at the site through the night, while essential supplies, including water and food, were delivered to the stranded boys using a drone.
IAF deploys helicopter to rescue kidsAs ground-based rescue options proved unviable, the state government sought assistance from the Indian Air Force. A Mi-17 V5 helicopter was deployed from Gorakhpur early Sunday morning.
IAF personnel carried out a precision operation and safely brought both teenagers down one by one.
