Odisha’s Purnima Hembram Claims Pentathlon Gold At Indian Indoor Open Pole Vault & Combined Events In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Purnima Hembram won the gold medal in Women’s Pentathlon at the first Indian Indoor Open Pole Vault & Combined Events Competition on Sunday.
Jashbir Nayak fetched Odisha another medal on the second and final day of the meet at Kalinga Stadium as he secured bronze in the Men’s Heptathlon event.
National records were rewritten in the marquee Pole Vault event, both in men’s and women’s categories.
Kuldeep Kumar, representing Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday cleared a height of 5.41 metres to better the national record of 5.40 metres set last year by Dev Kumar Meena.
In the women’s competition, Tamil Nadu’s Baranica Elangovan improved her own national record by clearing 4.23 metres on Sunday.
