India-A have picked separate squads for the upcoming tour of England and have handed over captaincy of the T20 team to Anushka Sharma and Harleen Deol for the ODI team respectively. The tour, which includes three T20 matches from June 20 followed by three ODIs beginning July 1, will be the start of the bilateral tour between India-A and England-A.

Anushka Sharma, who recently made her international debut for India in their series against South Africa has been tasked with leading the T20 team even in the early stages of her career. Vrinda Dinesh will serve as her deputy for the T20 series.

The ODI team however will be led by Harleen Deol who missed out on a place in the Indian Women's T20 World Cup squad. The vice-captain for the ODI squad is Pratika Rawal.

The selectors have handed opportunities to many young players, who could prove to be the future of the Indian team in the years to come, for this tour. Players like G. Kamalini and Vaishnavi Sharma, who have also represented the senior team at times have been selected in both the squads.

Jintimani Kalita, has received her maiden call-up to the Indian-A team in both formats of the game. Tanisha Singh, has been selected for the ODI squad while Purvaja Verlekar gets her maiden call-up in the T20 squad.

Among others, players like Minnu Mani, Shabnam Shakil and Tanuja Kanwer have been picked for the T20 squad, whereas senior domestic players like Priya Punia, Tejal Hasabnis and Sayali Satghare, are part of the ODI squad.

This tour of England will be crucial for the bench strength of the Indian team. The tour gives a perfect opportunity for the youngsters to gain valuable international experience on foreign soil. The series could even prove to be the deciding factor for certain players in the selection of future national squads of India.
