Jabalpur, 1 May. The cruise boat accident that took place on Thursday at Bargi Dam in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh has shocked the entire area. The death toll in this has increased to 9. At the same time, 24 people have been rescued alive so far, out of which some people are undergoing treatment. On Friday, the rescue team again intensified the search operation and recovered many more bodies from under the water. NDRF, Army and local teams are engaged with full force in this ongoing rescue operation, but the situation remains very difficult.
A rescue worker said that it has become very difficult to go inside and work because the cruise boat is lying completely upside down. Visibility under water is almost zero and nothing is clearly visible. In such a situation, the team has to search by guessing. He also said that till now many bodies have been recovered during the rescue, including that of a mother and child. He says that all this is so difficult that it is difficult to even explain it in words. There is very little space inside the Cruze, the windows are small and bodies are stuck between the grills.
He told that it had become very difficult to bring a mother and child together. The mother was holding her child tightly and it was becoming almost impossible to get both of them out of that small passage together. But after many efforts he was taken out. The rescue team says that there is a possibility of many more bodies still inside. The water is deep, dark and the entire boat is upside down, so every step has to be taken very carefully. The team is continuously searching and trying to get everyone out as soon as possible.
Another rescue worker said that the situation was so bad that nothing could be clearly seen inside. Many times it is not even clear where the dead body is and where it is not. In such a situation, work has to be done entirely on the basis of guesswork and experience. He said that at some places dead bodies are stuck due to grills and tight space, which is facing great difficulty in removing them. He also said that there is always a risk during the operation because the conditions under water are extremely unstable.
Meanwhile, Jabalpur Public Relations Department has released the list of missing persons in the Bargi cruise accident.
