The Board of Control for Cricket in India suspended Kyle Jamieson because he celebrated too aggressively after getting Vaibhav Sooryavanshi out during the RR vs DC IPL 2026 match.
Delhi Capitals achieved a seven-wicket victory against Rajasthan Royals through Axar Patel's leadership, while KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka established a new record by successfully chasing down their target.
The Royals established a massive 225-run score through their first innings, which included Riyan Parag's remarkable 90 runs off 50 deliveries. The Capitals responded to the challenge through their batters, who used Rahul and Nissanka's powerful batting performances to secure victory.
The celebration which Jamieson performed after he took Sooryavanshi's wicket became the most important aspect of the match which fans watched. The fast bowler's action attracted BCCI attention which resulted in the board suspending him from competitive play.
The second over Royals' innings began when Parag won the toss and decided to bat. Jamieson delivered a sharp inswinger which broke through Sooryavanshi's defence after he switched to around the wicket following his first boundary.
The delivery to Sooryavanshi turned into a successful yorker because he failed to read the ball which resulted in his complete miss of the delivery. The wicket became vital for the opposing team because he played at his highest level of performance.
The 15-year-old batter needed to experience his first professional match because Jamieson recognized that moment as an essential chance to achieve his first professional match. The match referee determined that he violated Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct which prohibits players from making gestures or performing actions toward a dismissed batter that might lead to the batter becoming offended.
The BCCI imposed one demerit point to Jamieson because of his actions during the match. The officials gave him a warning about his behavior on the field yet they chose not to impose any financial penalties.
