Ayushmann Khurrana Says Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Doesn't Promote Infidelity; Internet Says 'This Is Old Bollywood Formula'

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana recently addressed the audience’s qualms about his upcoming film Pati Patni Aur Woh Do. Defending the film, he said that it does not promote infidelity in any way. He also argued his case about why he chose to do the movie despite being a husband and father. Here’s what he said:

Ever since Ayushmann Khurrana’s Pati Patni Aur Woh Do has been announced, the audience is divided, thinking if we need one more film surrounding marital infidelity. In 2026, where we are already fighting problematic notions like ‘men tend to cheat’, ‘men will be men’, or ‘it’s in men’s biology’, it becomes important to push back against films that promote this mindset. That's one of the reasons why the viewers are not fully onboard with Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.

Addressing this directly, Ayushmann recently defended the film saying, it does not promote cheating or infidelity and that it’s just a comedy of errors. He stressed upon the fact that he intends to entertain his fans with light-hearted comedies

He said, “We are not promoting infidelity because it's a family film. Everyone will enjoy watching this film, it's a comedy of errors.”

The Vicky Donor actor also spoke about being mindful of his choices when it comes to doing films, especially as a parent. He said that he will never do any movie that his kids cannot watch.

He added, “Being a family man, I think I should do films that my kids can watch.” Khurrana also revealed that his children accompanied him to the edit during post-production. He said, “They loved it. When kids love it, then it becomes a wholesome family film, and Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is one such film.”

Ayushmann's co-actor in Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, Rakulpreet also joined him and said that it’s just a film based on erroneous events that go wrong.

The internet, who is sceptical about Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, reacted to Ayushmann's statement. A netizen said, “Hope what he says is true. I am done with infidelity movies.”

One more added, “By showing intimate scenes with all 3 actresses? This is old Bollywood formula where infidelity is never shown openly, just subtly implied. Hero stays saint because all the intimacy happens only in the wife’s imagination while the audience still gets the thrill/excitement of implied infidelity.”

A Reddit user weighed in, “I watched the trailer again and it totally made sense; that kissing scene between Politician's son and Ayushman's character kind of establishes that Ayushman is playing some sort of LGBTQIA+ crusader.”

One wrote, “But Bollywood write infidelity such way na? Pati-Patni (2019) was indirect too, Ananya forgive because despite everything he never get intimate with her.”

Another argued, “So Ayushman might be helping Sara through her trauma but there are innuendo, sara sit in his lap, intimate songs that hint infidelity but not direct. This is similar to 2019 one, imply infidelity but don't show. Edit - what's the point of these intimate scenes with other 2 actresses? indirectly imply infidelity but end me bol do wo sab brahm tha”

About ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’

Helmed by Mudassar Aziz and backed by T-Series Films & B.R. Studios, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do stars Ayushmann Khurrana along with Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles. It also stars Vijay Raaz in a supporting role.

Based on the same storyline as its previous two eponymous counterparts, Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019 & 1978), the film is gaining traction after releasing Roop Di Rani and Dil Waale Chor tracks.

According to the film’s synopsis, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, an emotional joyride, is a humorous take on modern love and marriage, weaved with chaotic misunderstandings. Pati Patni Aur Woh Do will be arrive in cinemas on May 15, 2026.
