How this system will work

This alert system will be based on ‘Common Alerting Protocol’ (CAP). The system suggested by the International Telecommunication Union is already operational in all 36 states and Union Territories. With the help of this system, disaster notifications are sent through SMS to mobile users in a particular area. The advantage of this is that an alert is sent to the people in the area where there is danger.

Cell Broadcast Technology

Apart from SMS, cell broadcast technology is also being used now. Through this technology, a message is sent simultaneously to all mobile devices in a particular area. This will alert all people in real-time. This system is considered to be effective in delivering alerts to many people simultaneously in a large area. It is reported that the entire system has been designed and developed by the Telematics Development Centre. This system is considered to be a very good example of ‘Make in India’, in which the country’s technology is used. Before launching this system, the government has tested its reliability and performance.
