Tournament Society Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting (AGBM) of Durand Football Tournament Society has been successfully held on 30th April 2026 at Manekshaw Centre. The meeting was chaired by the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), who is also the President of the Society. Key organizational, administrative and operational aspects related to the upcoming 135th edition of the Durand Cup were discussed at the AGBM.
Let us tell you, Durand Cup is one of the oldest and most prestigious football tournaments in Asia. Members reviewed the conduct of previous editions and discussed ways to further improve the scale, competitiveness and accessibility of the tournament. During the meeting, important decisions related to the structure of the tournament, participation of domestic and international teams, finalizing the venue and promotional activities were discussed and approved.
The legacy of the tournament will be strengthened
Special emphasis was placed on strengthening the legacy of the tournament and expanding its reach across multiple cities in India. In his address, the CDS highlighted the importance of the Durand Cup in promoting football in India and reiterated the Armed Forces' continued commitment towards promoting sporting excellence and strengthening national integration through the game.
135th edition of Durand Cup
Senior officers of the Armed Forces, representatives of concerned stakeholders and members of the Society participated in the meeting and contributed to the discussions. The 135th edition of the Durand Cup is expected to carry forward its rich legacy and continue to act as an important platform for emerging talent as well as established clubs.
