However, the government can also bring a confidence motion in this.

At the same time, Congress will surround the Assembly today. Congress workers will march towards the Assembly under the leadership of Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding demanding increase in wages. BJP has boycotted today’s session and a mock assembly will be held at the Sector 37 headquarters of Punjab BJP.

If Aam Aadmi Party sources are to be believed, the Bhagwant Mann government is taking this step in view of the circumstances arising after the rebellion of seven Rajya Sabha MPs including Raghav Chadha. In fact, Raghav Chadha had claimed that AAP MLAs would also leave the party. Taking this seriously, the party high command talked to the MLAs and has now planned to pass a confidence motion, which will make the government safe for 6 months.

Punjab BJP has decided to distance itself from this special session. State party president Sunil Jakhar claimed that the government wants to save itself for 6 months by bringing a confidence motion through a special session, because after the confidence motion is passed, a no-confidence motion cannot be brought for 6 months. In such a situation, BJP MLAs are boycotting the session.
