8th Pay Commission Deadline Extension: The 8th Pay Commission has extended the final date for submitting memorandums to May 31, 2026. All employees can now register their demands and suggestions through the online portal.

8th Pay Commission Deadline Extension: An important update has emerged for Central Government employees and pensioners. The 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) has now extended the deadline for registering demands and suggestions by one month. Previously, the final date was April 30; this has now been extended to May 31, 2026.

According to an official statement issued on Wednesday, April 29, stakeholders now have an additional month to present their views.

What is the New Application Deadline?

According to a report by CNBC TV18, the Pay Commission has clarified on its website that the final date for submitting memorandums and representations is now May 31 (Sunday). This decision was taken because significant technical glitches were being encountered on the online portal due to heavy traffic. Employees had been consistently demanding an extension of the deadline, citing issues with the portal's functionality. With this extension, a greater number of individuals and organizations will now be able to ensure their participation in the process.

What is the Correct Method for Submission?

The Commission has issued strict instructions stating that suggestions will be accepted *only* through the official online portal. If you intend to submit your views via email or by writing them down on paper, such submissions will be summarily rejected. The Commission has explicitly stated the following:

No hard copies (written on paper) will be accepted.
Applications sent via PDF files or email will not be considered valid.
Use *only* the link provided on the portal for submissions.

Who Gets the Opportunity to Present Their Views?

This process encompasses not only current employees but also a broad spectrum of stakeholders. This encompasses industrial and non-industrial employees of the Central Government, officers of the All India Services, personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as employees and pensioners of Union Territories (UTs). Furthermore, various government organizations, unions, and service associations are also eligible to submit their recommendations. It should be noted that employees of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) do not fall within the purview of this commission.

When is the Commission's Final Report Expected?

The 8th Pay Commission was constituted on November 3, 2025. Its primary mandate is to review the salaries, allowances, and other benefits of employees. The Commission has been allotted a period of 18 months to submit its report. Currently, crucial meetings are being held in Delhi between April 28 and April 30. During discussions held on April 29 with the National Council JCM (NCJCM), the salary structure and service conditions of employees were deliberated upon in detail. It is possible that the Commission may also present an interim report, should the need arise.
