Formula 1 is back this weekend as the grid heads to Florida for the Miami Grand Prix. It has been roughly a month since the drivers were last in action.
The end of the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka on March 29 marked the beginning of an unexpected spring hiatus for F1, after the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix were cancelled due to conflict in the Middle East. As tensions escalated, the decision was made to abandon the races scheduled for April 12 and April 19, respectively. No alternative venues were found. Mercedes will now look to continue their dominance as this pause ends in Miami.
Of the three races held this year, George Russell (1) and Kimi Antonelli (2) have won all of them. This success contrasts with the struggles of Aston Martin and lead driver Fernando Alonso, who are yet to get points on the board. The Spaniard, whose deal expires in 2026, has made a telling admission about his future as Express Sport brings you the latest from the paddock.
Fernando Alonso's future hopesAston Martin's season has been lacklustre so far, with Alonso and team-mate Lance Stroll's cars suffering issues in pre-season testing and both drivers being forced to return to the pits in Australia and China.
But with his contract ending in 2026, Alonso has claimed he hopes this campaign will not be his last. The 44-year-old said at the Historic Grand Prix of Monaco: "I love what I do. I love racing. I did my first race when I was three years [old], and I am 44, so 41 years of my life I have been behind a steering wheel.
"So the moment I have to stop racing, it will be a very hard decision and difficult to accept. The time will tell. I will feel it. At the moment, I don't feel it is that time yet. I feel competitive, I feel motivated, I feel happy when I drive. So, yeah, hopefully not the last season."
Elsewhere, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc has been named a global ambassador for cosmetics company L'Oréal Paris. He said: "I will always associate L'Oréal Paris with my mother.

"She is a hairdresser, so I grew up seeing L'Oréal Paris products all around the house and watching the adverts on television. I am so grateful to have such strong women in my life and am incredibly proud to be joining a brand that stands for female empowerment."
The Monegasque driver also holds endorsements with Richard Mille, Puma, Ray-Ban and APM Monaco. He launched his own low-calorie ice cream brand, LEC, in 2024.
