Argentina emerges as India's main supplier of edible oils

Argentina and India are forging stronger economic bonds, with India becoming Argentina's sixth-largest trade partner. Their collaboration is focused on ensuring food security and accessing essential minerals. Notably, Argentina is a major exporter of edible oils to India, enhancing the strategic partnership that was amplified in 2019. Additionally, Argentina plays a pivotal role in supporting India's energy security requirements.

Argentine Ambassador to India Mariano Caucino has stated that “Argentina and India enjoy a very elevated degree of complementarity” and pointed out that India has become the sixth-largest economic partner of the South American nation.

Speaking at a recent diplomatic conclave organized by Worsen University in Hyderabad, Caucino emphasized that “our countries maintain a growing economic interaction stemming from the objective complementarity between our economies”.

The envoy further emphasized that “since elevating our relationship to the status of strategic partners in 2019, we have significantly increased the volume of our economic and trade ties”.


Caucino explained, “Argentina is already contributing to food security but can also contribute to India’s energy security”.

Caucino recognized that India is becoming a decisive actor in today’s world, and a country to which every nation is paying more and more attention.

Argentina has become India’s main provider of edible oils, while cooperation in critical minerals is becoming strategic.
