Gundlupet: A police inspector has come under criticism after a video showed him driving a private jeep inside a restricted forest area in Bandipur National Park along with his family.
The incident involves Gundlupet Police Inspector Jayakumar, who was seen in uniform driving through the restricted zone near Ooty Road, close to a farmhouse reportedly owned by Ikram Siddiqui.
The video of the visit has gone viral on social media. It was reportedly edited with background music, which drew further criticism from the public.
Viewers have raised concerns over alleged violation of forest rules, as the officer was seen stepping out of the vehicle and posing for photographs inside the restricted area. Many questioned whether different rules apply to officials and the general public.
Questions have also been raised about how entry was allowed into the restricted forest area using a private vehicle. The use of police uniform and vehicle for personal purposes has also been criticised.
Several users on social media have demanded action against the inspector, urging authorities to take strict legal steps. They said such action would serve as a warning to others and ensure accountability among officials.
