The match played between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2026 was much discussed not only for the thrill but also because of the controversies. Actually, Raghuvanshi was declared out by the third umpire under ‘Obstructing the Field’, after which a lot of debate broke out on this decision. Angered by this decision, Raghuvanshi could not control his anger when he was leaving the field. Now he has to suffer the consequences of his anger. BCCI has taken action and imposed a fine on him.

In this match held on April 26 at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, KKR won in the Super Over but the most talked about thing was the dismissal of young batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi and his reaction. After getting out, Raghuvanshi looked very angry while returning to the pavilion. He hit the boundary cushion hard with his bat and then threw the helmet on the ground. This behavior was considered against the rules of cricket, due to which action was taken against him.

BCCI imposed fine

Angkrish Raghuvanshi was found guilty under the IPL Code of Conduct. He breached Article 2.2, which deals with the misuse of cricket equipment or on-field equipment during a match. Due to this, he was fined 20 percent of the match fee. He was also given one demerit point. Raghuvanshi accepted her mistake and accepted the punishment.

How did the dispute happen?

This incident happened in the fifth over of KKR’s innings. Angkrish Raghuvanshi stopped in the middle of the crease due to a misunderstanding at the non-striker’s end while taking a run. Meanwhile, the ball hit his pad due to the throw of bowler Mohammed Shami. After this, Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant appealed and the matter reached the third umpire. After review, the umpire declared him out under ‘Obstructing the Field’. This is only the fourth time in IPL history when a batsman has been given out like this. Earlier in 2024, Ravindra Jadeja had also been out in a similar manner.
