Jabalpur: This is a big and scary news for thousands of electricity consumers of the city, who had taken the help of the government’s ‘Samadhan Yojana’ to pay their huge electricity bills. People who opted for installments under this scheme implemented by Madhya Pradesh government are now on the radar. The Electricity Department has warned in blunt words that if you are even slightly negligent in paying your installments, then be prepared for huge financial losses.

The benefit of exemption ends, it will be a heavy burden on the pocket As per the rules, consumers who had promised to pay their outstanding bills in six installments are now in a ‘do or die’ situation. If any consumer fails to pay two consecutive installments, his scheme eligibility will be canceled immediately. This simply means that the huge discount you were getting from the government on the principal amount and surcharge (interest) will end. Now you will have to repay the entire outstanding amount with heavy interest.

The department team knocked door to door in Jabalpur The effect of this strict stance of the department is visible in the entire city from today itself, Monday, 27 April 2026. On the instructions of Superintending Engineer Sanjay Arora, a special intensive campaign has been started. The teams of the department are reaching people’s homes and offices directly. If we look at the figures, a total of 16,111 consumers of Jabalpur had opted for installments, but the review has found shocking facts. 3,717 consumers of the city have already been left out of the scheme due to non-payment of two installments.

Last chance is till 30th April At present there are 6,127 consumers who are standing on the danger line. If they do not deposit their installment this month, they will also lose out on government rebate. Keeping this in view, the department has launched a mega campaign till 30th April. On the very first day of the campaign, the teams contacted 708 consumers and about Rs 8 lakh was recovered on the spot. The department says that this campaign is not just for recovery, but to make people aware of their financial losses.

The system will automatically cross out your name. Officials have made it clear that the entire system is online. The portal will automatically cancel your eligibility as soon as your second installment is missed. It will not be in the hands of the department to restore it again. In such a situation, there is a rush of people to make payment at electricity offices and online portals. Regional engineers and line staff have been given strict instructions to keep the list of defaulters ready. If you are also a part of this scheme, then definitely pay your installment by 30th, otherwise the dream of government discount may remain unfulfilled.
