Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the wicketkeeper-batsman for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has been penalized 20% of his match fee and received one demerit point for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during a match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday night.
According to an official IPL announcement, Raghuvanshi was found guilty of a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the Code, which pertains to the "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during a match."

"Angkrish Raghuvanshi, batter and wicket-keeper for Kolkata Knight Riders, has been fined 20% of his match fee and has also received one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 38 against Lucknow Super Giants," the IPL statement detailed.
The incident occurred in the fifth over of KKR's innings when Raghuvanshi was dismissed for obstructing the field. Following this, he was observed hitting the boundary cushion with his bat in frustration and subsequently tossing his helmet into the dugout.
"Raghuvanshi was found to have violated Article 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which addresses the abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during a match. This incident transpired in the 5th over, after he was ruled out for 'obstructing the field', leading to his aggressive actions," the statement elaborated.
Level 1 breaches can result in penalties ranging from official reprimands to fines and demerit points, depending on the offense's severity.
"Raghuvanshi acknowledged the offense and accepted the Match Referee's decision," concluded the IPL statement.
Match Summary: KKR Triumphs Over LSG in Super Over
In the match recap, KKR narrowly defeated LSG in a thrilling Super Over at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday night.
In a tense finish, LSG required seven runs off the final ball when Mohammed Shami hit a six over long-off, forcing the game into a Super Over.
Earlier, Mohsin Khan's impressive five-wicket haul (5/23) had put KKR's top order under pressure, but Rinku Singh's outstanding unbeaten 83 off 51 balls, which included seven fours and five sixes, led to a remarkable recovery. His late-game performance, featuring four consecutive sixes in the final over, propelled KKR to a competitive score of 155/7.
In response, KKR's bowlers maintained pressure on LSG throughout the innings, but Shami's dramatic last-ball hit pushed the match into a nail-biting Super Over.
