ACP Sanjay Singh: During a match of IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals' South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi suffered a serious injury on the field. His fall while trying to take a catch at mid-off was so horrific that he needed to be immediately taken to the hospital. At that time, ACP Sanjay Singh of Delhi Traffic Police took immediate action and created an improvised green corridor in the heavy peak hour traffic and took the ambulance to the hospital in just 11 minutes.
Sanjay Singh's wisdom worked
This incident happened during the match played between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Ngidi was first treated on the field and later an ambulance was called due to his injury. The ambulance left the stadium at 6:16 pm and reached Max Hospital in Rajendra Nagar just 11 minutes later i.e. at 6:27 pm. During this period a distance of about 10 kilometers was covered. Due to peak hours and heavy traffic, this distance usually takes 25-30 minutes. But Sanjay Singh advised the ambulance driver not to trust Google Maps. He chose a longer route because the shorter routes were completely jammed. During this entire operation, about 60 police officers kept coordinating through wireless sets.
Have played cricket with Virat-Gambhir
ACP Sanjay Singh has more than two decades of experience in Delhi Traffic Police and is a former cricketer himself. Sanjay Singh has a deep connection with cricket, he has shared the field with players like Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. Due to which he understands very well the seriousness of the players' injuries. According to the report of Indian Express, Sanjay Singh said that I have played cricket myself, so I know how dangerous an injury can be on the field. Ngidi is an international cricketer and his fall was very bad.
Lungi Ngidi is currently with the team
Lungi Ngidi was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital, where he was scanned and examined. Later he was declared stable and discharged from the hospital. After which Ngidi thanked the fans on Instagram and wrote, 'Thank you for all the messages, I am fine.' He is currently with the team, but it is not yet clear whether he will be able to play the next match or not.
