No matter how clean you try to keep the kitchen, certain areas always end up looking worse than others. Kitchen cabinets, especially those with a matte or glass finish, need wiping down almost every day to keep them looking perfect.

Given that the kitchen is the home of food prep, it's no wonder that cupboards and drawers often end up covered in fingerprints and food stains. If left for too long, they can be a nightmare to get rid of. However, one cleaning expert on social media says it's easy to make a DIY solution and that there's no scrubbing involved at all.

Cleaning influencer Chantel Mila, also known as @mama_mila_ on TikTok, boasts more than 1.6 million followers thanks to her simple tips that anyone can follow.

She recently posted a video about how to clean your kitchen cabinets using just two simple ingredients you've probably got at home already. In the caption, she said: "Say goodbye to tough grease on your kitchen cabinets. This mix is one of my favourites at cutting through tough grease and leaving your kitchen cabinets looking new again."

Baking soda and lemon juice are both known for their powerful cleaning properties, and when combined, they work brilliantly to remove stubborn stains and leave a fresh scent behind.

How to clean kitchen cabinets

For spotlessly clean kitchen cabinets, all you need is a bowl and a quarter cup of baking soda. According to Chantel, this is 'powerful' at removing grease without scrubbing.

Then, add a teaspoon of lemon juice. Chantel said: "The citric acid helps to cut through grime."

Finally, add one cup of water and give the mixture a good stir to combine everything. Use a clean cloth to apply it to your kitchen cabinets, using sweeping circular motions, and allow it to sit for five minutes so the 'powerful' mixture can work its magic.

You can then use the leftover lemon water to pour down your sink, freshening it up and loosening any blockages that might be lurking in there.

Finally, use a warm, damp cloth to wipe the solution away from your cabinets, which should now look 'shiny' thanks to the lemon and baking soda.

Fans in the comments were full of praise for this tip, with one person writing: "Love when the house is clean & smelling good."

Another said: "Such useful tips! I tried them and they worked."

And a third commented: "I bet it smells so fresh in your kitchen too."
