In Madhya Pradesh, about 30 thousand outsourced health workers associated with the Public Health and Medical Education Department and National Health Mission (NHM) have announced an all-out war for their demands. Angered by the salary crisis and ignorance of their rights, these employees have decided to start a phased movement from May 4, 2026. There is a possibility that this will affect health services. The health system of the state may collapse.

The employees allege that they are not getting regular salaries for the last 5-6 months due to which it is becoming difficult to survive. Along with low wages, they are also being deprived of basic facilities like pay discrepancies, NPS, health insurance, leave and dearness allowance. Madhya Pradesh Contract Outsourced Health Employees Union State President Komal Singh has said that if the demands are not decided soon, this movement will become more violent. If the health care system collapses due to this, then the responsibility for this will be on the government.

Health workers have divided their protests into three phases:

  • First phase (May 4): Outsourced health workers will gather at all the district headquarters of the state and submit a memorandum to the Collector in the name of the Governor.
  • Second phase (May 18): A memorandum will be submitted to the Principal Secretary at all Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) offices.
  • Third phase (May 25): If the demands are not met, an indefinite hunger strike will be started in front of the Deputy Chief Minister’s bungalow in Bhopal from May 25.

Major demands of employees

  • The minimum salary of employees should be fixed at Rs 26,000 per month.
  • Corporation/Board should be formed on the lines of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
  • These experienced employees should be regularized on equivalent vacant posts in the department.
  • Immediate payment of salaries pending for the last several months should be ensured.
  • Basic facilities should be provided to outsourced employees.
