AAP Politics : Chandigarh : Operation Lotus has cleared the Aam Aadmi Party. Seven out of 10 MPs have joined the BJP. It also includes Raghav Chadha along with Harbhajan Singh. This has caused a big shock in the political circle. Punjab’s Bhagwant Mann government has taken a big step against former cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh. The government has withdrawn Harbhajan Singh’s security, and now security personnel have been removed from outside his house. Earlier, Harbhajan Singh was provided ‘Z-Plus’ security.
Although Harbhajan Singh himself did not announce his decision to quit the Aam Aadmi Party, the party’s Raghav Chadha claimed it. After this, the government withdrew the security. Earlier, on Saturday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers protested outside the residence of Rajya Sabha members Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Mittal and Rajinder Gupta. A sign saying “traitor” was put up outside his house. This is considered a big blow for AAP in the background of the upcoming Punjab elections and this has created a political controversy.
Harbhajan Singh joined BJP
Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak along with five other Aam Aadmi Party MPs on Friday announced their decision to quit the party and join the BJP. Other Aam Aadmi Party MPs include Ashok Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, Rajendra Gupta, Swati Maliwal and Vikramjit Sahni. AAP MP Harbhajan Singh has now left the party and joined the BJP. In Ludhiana and Jalandhar, activists spray-painted ‘traitor’ on the walls of their houses. A similar message was also found written at Harbhajan Singh’s house. This defection is likely to affect the politics of the country including Punjab.
Protesters shouted slogans like ‘Traitor of Punjab’
The protesters chanted ‘Traitor of Punjab’ and accused the MPs of betraying the people of Punjab. Aam Aadmi Party leader Pawan Kumar Tinu said in Jalandhar, “AAP will come back to power in Punjab in 2027 and BJP will have no political weight here. In desperation, BJP has tried to convert AAP MPs. Congress, BJP and Akali Dal have formed an alliance against AAP, that’s why their leaders have made similar statements.”
