Patna. The government has taken a big step to make the Anganwadi system modern and effective in Bihar. Deputy CM Bijendra Prasad Yadav has announced that Android smartphones will be provided to all Anganwadi workers and assistants in the state within the next two months. This announcement was made during the closing ceremony of Nutrition Fortnight-2026 organized at Gyan Bhawan, Patna.
Children will be better monitored through digital system
Through the Digital Support System (DSS) being implemented by the government, Anganwadi workers will now be able to scientifically assess the development of children aged 0 to 6 years. In this, six major aspects like motor skills, language, cognitive ability, social behavior, vision and hearing will be monitored. With this, any developmental delay in children can be identified in time.
Better coordination with health services
Under this initiative, coordination between Anganwadi, ASHA and ANM is being strengthened. If needed, a system to send children to the District Early Intervention Center (DEIC) through the RBSK team is also being developed, which will speed up treatment and care.
Information will be available from WhatsApp channel
A WhatsApp community channel named ‘Our Children, Our Family’ was also launched during the program. Through this, important information to nutrition, care, early education and mental development of children will be provided to the parents.
Focus on early development of children
In fact, about 85% of a child’s brain develops in the first six years of his life. In such a situation, proper nutrition, communication and sports based education is very important. Working in this direction, the government is emphasizing on strengthening maternal and child nutrition, elementary education and Anganwadi centres.
