Kolkata: Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "jhalmuri jhatka" remark, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said the state will show the BJP the real "jhal" (hot taste) of jhalmuri on May 4, when results are declared.

Two days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that while he enjoyed "jhalmuri" in Jhargram, the Trinamool Congress got a "jhatka" (jolt) from its "jhal" (hot taste). He said the Trinamool Congress felt the "jhal ka jhatka".

"Once we come to power on May 4, sweets and jhalmuri will be distributed in Bengal," Modi said while addressing a poll rally in Krishnanagar on April 23. His "jhalmuri" outreach has since gone viral on social media.

Addressing a public rally in Bhawanipur, her home turf, Mamata Banerjee urged people across communities to vote for her.
