Youngest to 1000 T20 runs: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scripts milestone with 15-ball fifty

New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals fiery batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scripted yet another milestone during the team’s IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday. Sooryavanshi, who smashed a 15-ball half-century, became the youngest batter at 15 to reach 1000 runs in T20 cricket.

Sooryavanshi started off the innings on a blazing note smashing four sixes off Hyderabad bowler Praful Hinge in the very first over of the innings after the Royals were put into bat first by Hyderabad. He accumulated 20 runs in the first 6 balls and then moved on with the same pace to devastate the bowling attack of the opposition.

Third 15-ball fifty for 15-year-old

Earlier in the season, the left-handed batter had smashed a 15-ball fifty against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as well making it his third half-century against a third franchise in as many balls.

In fifth over of the innings, the RR batter was dropped on the boundary rope by SRH fielder Aniket even before reaching his fifty. Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, the Royals had reached 112/1 in 10 overs with Sooryavanshi unbeaten on 76 and Dhruv Jurel unbeaten on 25 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the lone Royals player to depart to pavilion after he was dismissed on 10 off 8 by SRH’s Eshan Malinga.

Earlier, Pat Cummins returned to the side after as the skipper after an injury and opted to bowl first in Jaipur. While the Royals are at the third position on the table with 5 wins from 7 games, Sunrisers are fourth with four wins in as many matches.

Both the sides remain in firm contention to qualify for the playoffs seeing their brilliant run in the 19th edition of the cash-rich league.
