digital desk- Amidst the excitement of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027 in Lucknow, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has made a big political announcement. Republican Party of India President Athawale has said that his party is preparing to field candidates on 25 seats in the UP elections. He made it clear that his first priority is to contest the elections together with the National Democratic Alliance, but if there is no consensus on seats, his party will not shy away from contesting alone. In the press conference, Athawale said that RPI is an ally of NDA and as part of the alliance, their demand is that they should be given 25 seats in Uttar Pradesh. He said in clear words, “If our demands are not accepted, we will contest the elections on our own.” After this statement, a new stir has intensified in the politics of UP.

Dalits should be given five acres of land each – Athawale

Athawale not only raised election strategy but also raised social issues strongly. He demanded that five acres of land should be given to Dalit families in the villages of the state, so that they do not have to migrate to cities for employment. He also advocated building a community center for the Dalit community. Praising the Yogi Adityanath government, he said that “goondaraj has ended” in UP and the age-old Ram Temple issue has also been resolved. Now the government should focus on the economic empowerment of Dalits. Athawale said that he will meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and present his demands before him.

Candidates were also fielded in Bihar assembly elections

Politically, this stance of RPI can be both a challenge and an opportunity for the NDA. If there is agreement on seat sharing then the alliance will be strong, but in case of disagreement, scattering of votes is also possible. It is noteworthy that RPI has recently tried its electoral luck in other states also. In the Bihar assembly elections, the party had fielded candidates on three seats, while in Tamil Nadu it is contesting on 18 seats. However, despite contesting on 31 seats in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the party did not achieve any success.
