The BBC has announced that the brand new series of Amandaland is just around the corner.

The comedy starring Lucy Punch - a spin-off of the hit series Motherland - is set to return for its second run on May 6.

Releasing a short clip of Amanda (Lucy) receiving dating tips from her mother Felicity (Joanna Lumley), the broadcaster teased: "Life after Motherland. Downsizing, facing the horror of modern teens - not even an alpha mum can do it alone. And then there's her mother..."

Amandaland launched last year, with the debut series following Amanda in the aftermath of her marriage breakdown as she relocated to a new area. Navigating life as a single mother while raising her children, she leaned on a fresh circle of school-gate friends and rekindled her friendship with former ally Anne (Philippa Dunne).

Series two will find Amanda still residing in "SoHa" - the nickname she has bestowed upon her new home of South Harlesden - as she juggles life with teenage children, her online Senuous brand and her "co-lab" role at Kitchen's Bathrooms and Kitchens, reports Wales Online.

Fans of the show were delighted by the news, with one taking to Instagram to write: "Can't wait! So excited this is coming back!"

"Two of my favourites!" declared another in response to the clip.

"These two were made to play mother and daughter," remarked a further viewer.

One fan described the show as "gold", while another simply posted: "Yay!"

Motherland, which starred Anna Maxwell Martin as the hapless mum Julia, ran for three series before concluding with a Christmas special in 2022.

Amandaland launched in 2025 and subsequently broadcast a Christmas special on BBC iPlayer and BBC One, which turned out to be a ratings triumph.

BBC chief content officer Kate Phillips remarked at the time: "It's remarkable to think that Amanda's move to SoHa only happened last year and yet in such a short space of time it has become the mother of all comedies, taking the number one spot for 2025."

"We are really proud of this iconic show," she added.

Amandaland's second series starts on May 6. Series one is available on BBC iPlayer.
