The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released a new recruitment notification for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’ posts for 2026. A total of 731 vacancies have been announced. This is a fantastic chance for young people who have completed their 12th standard to join a Central Government department. This recruitment drive will fill Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group B) and Grade ‘D’ (Group C) positions. The online application process starts on April 24, 2026, and will close on May 15, 2026. For the basic educational qualification, applicants must have passed their 12th standard or an equivalent exam from a recognised board or university.

For the Grade ‘C’ post, candidates between 18 and 30 years can apply. For the Grade ‘D’ post, the age limit is 18 to 27 years. The government provides age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, and persons with disabilities as per the rules. Selected candidates will receive a starting salary of ₹35,400. On top of this, they will also get other allowances like DA and HRA, which are given to Central Government employees, making this a financially secure job.The SSC conducts this recruitment in two stages. First, there will be a Computer Based Examination (CBT). Candidates who clear the CBT will be called for a Stenography Skill Test. Only those who successfully pass both stages will be selected for the job. The exam will have a total of 200 questions from General Intelligence, General Awareness, and English Language sections. Be careful, as 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.In Tamil Nadu, the SSC has set up exam centres in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Theni, and Puducherry. This makes it convenient for students from Tamil Nadu to take the exam close to their homes. There is no application fee for women, SC/ST, persons with disabilities, and ex-servicemen. Other applicants need to pay a fee of ₹100 online.Applicants must visit the official SSC website to apply online. It is very important to enter all details correctly while filling the form, as no changes can be made after the last date. Remember these important dates: Applications open on 24.04.2026 and close on 15.05.2026. The last date for fee payment is 16.05.2026. The application correction window is from 20.05.2026 to 21.05.2026. The exam will be held in July – August 2026.
