Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced
Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will release on July 9, 2026, marking the return of Edward Kenway more than a decade after the original game launched. The updated version will be available on PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and PC, including platforms such as Ubisoft Store, Epic Games, Steam and Ubisoft+. It will also be accessible via streaming services including Nvidia GeForce Now and Blacknut.

The game is a recreation of the original Black Flag, developed using the latest version of Ubisoft’s Anvil engine. The project is being led by Ubisoft Singapore, with several developers from the original title involved in bringing the game to current-generation hardware with technical improvements and additional content.

Story and gameplay setting

Players will return to the Caribbean as Edward Kenway, commanding the Jackdaw and navigating naval combat and land-based encounters. The storyline follows his journey from privateer to Assassin, set against conflicts involving the Templars, with enhancements aimed at delivering a more immersive experience.

New content and gameplay additions

Resynced retains the original narrative while introducing new features, quests and gameplay elements. Players will be able to recruit officers with unique abilities for naval combat and explore reworked locations offering new rewards and encounters. Additional missions and scenes featuring returning voice actor Matt Ryan have also been included.

Expanded customization options for the Jackdaw have been added, including new skins and companion pets. The Kenway’s Fleet system has been reworked to allow players to generate passive income through trading and activities.

Pre-order bonuses and additional content

Players who pre-order the Standard or Deluxe editions will receive the Blackbeard Crimson pack, which includes weapons with unique perks and a costume for Edward Kenway.

Enhanced combat and stealth mechanics

The game features updated combat mechanics, including new takedowns, revised parrying systems and additional weapon moves. A new enemy type known as the Demolitionist has been introduced.

Stealth gameplay has also been expanded with features such as an enhanced observation mode, the ability to crouch anywhere, and improved environmental interactions affecting visibility.

Naval combat and exploration improvements

Naval combat has been updated with new secondary weapons, including shrapnel barrels and additional artillery options. Enemy ships and factions have been redesigned with varied equipment based on alliances.

The parkour system has been refined with new movement options, while environmental systems such as dynamic weather and destructible objects aim to enhance immersion. Water physics and rendering have also been modernised.

Visual and technical upgrades

The updated version includes ray-traced lighting, global illumination and improved reflections. Graphics have been rebuilt to support modern rendering technologies, with performance optimised to offer 60 FPS options on consoles.
