On Friday, Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the RJD and opposition, launched a fierce critique against the NDA government during the floor test in the Bihar Assembly, questioning the reasons behind the current political turmoil. Speaking in a special session, Yadav asserted that if the BJP had announced its chief ministerial candidate earlier, the present situation could have been avoided. He argued that had the party clarified its intentions beforehand, there would have been no need to convene a one-day session to prove the majority.
Yadav stated, “If the BJP had declared who would take on the chief minister role, we wouldn’t be facing this situation today.” He further noted that the slogans used during the election campaign reflected Nitish Kumar's leadership. Referring to the JDU's campaign slogans, he mentioned, “We saw slogans like ‘2025 to 2030, once again Nitish.’ However, we were aware that the BJP would not allow Nitish Kumar to remain as chief minister. The BJP has effectively ended Nitish Kumar's tenure.”
During his address, members of the assembly interrupted him at various points, highlighting the charged political atmosphere. Tejashwi also expressed concern over the political instability in the state, pointing out that Bihar has seen multiple government changes in a short span. He questioned the need for stability in governance for development, stating, “What is happening in Bihar is unprecedented – five governments in five years. Why does the NDA need to form a government five times after ruling for 21 years?”
In a pointed remark, Tejashwi criticized Samrat Chaudhary, thanking him for the transition from one elected chief minister to another. He remarked that the “resolution” to change the elected leadership has been fulfilled, and Chaudhary's political journey remains a topic of interest.
