One I'm A Celebrity favourite has tearfully confirmed that they won't be attending the live ITV final - and it's not Jimmy Bullard. On Thursday night (April 23), soap star Beverley Callard forced back tears as she regretfully revealed that she won't be attending the live final due to her ill health. The actress was diagnosed with breast cancer in February, just months after she returned to the UK.
Taking to Instagram, the 69-year-old told her fans: "Another update. I didn't post yesterday because yesterday I should have flown over to England to get ready for the I'm a Celeb final, which is tomorrow at half past seven. And I was so excited and looking forward to it, but on medical advice, I've been told I can't go. I'm absolutely gutted, I was dying to see them all, and it would have been brilliant. But I can't go"
"Yesterday, flights were booked and everything, but they said it's too long a day flying there, followed by a late night, etc. So, here I am, but I will be watching, and I will be on a Zoom chatting to everybody, so I've got to make the best of a bad job.
"But I am resting, I am doing as I'm told and thanks to everybody." She captioned the tearful post: "A last-minute change of plans... Absolutely gutted, but I know it's for the best. Resting up and getting well is more important at the moment [heart emoji]."
It didn't take long before her loyal legion of fans flocked to the comments to pass on their well-wishes to her online. One user penned: "Aww, Beverley [sad emoji] sending you love, it won't be the same without you [heart emoji]. You are so strong! Incredible."
Another added: "Glad they can Zoom you in to be part of it. Rest is recovery [heart emoji, plaster emoji] sending lots of love [heart emoji]." A third echoed: "Ah, Beverley, that's hard for you. But you will be on telly. Rest up and enjoy being a part of it. We are all rooting for you [heart emoji, three applause emojis]."
A fourth chimed in with: "Aww, Bev [two heart emojis]. Look, it won't be the same, but at least you can chat to the others over the internet, and the rest is best as they say.
"But it's so true, your body needs to rest, which is what you're doing, so keep doing it and let your body heal. Watch it with your feet up and have a treat of something absolutely delicious that you'll really like [thumbs up emoji]. Sending love and positive vibes [three heart emojis]."
It comes after the Liz McDonald star revealed she "lost consciousness" moments before she left the ITV camp just weeks months before she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She told fans: "Well, I've just watched my exit on I'm A Celeb, and it made me cry all over again because, of course, I didn't know then that I had cancer, but I just knew that it was the last couple of days there that I'd not felt very well.
"And so, what happened was I was called into the Bush Telegraph, and apparently I lost consciousness for a little while, and I went yondalee as they say, and I just wasn't feeling myself. They took me to a medical hut; they were amazing, they really looked after me, and then they said, 'You can't go back'."
Since she announced her breast cancer diagnosis, the actress has documented her cancer journey online, including her recent surgery to remove the cancer. Fans will have to stay tuned to see who will be crowned the next I'm A Celebrity Legend on Friday on ITV1 or ITVX from 7.30pm.
