Quote for motivation at work: If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito

In every workplace, there are moments when you may feel insignificant, like your role is too small to create any real impact. Perhaps the person is a new hire or someone who works among other employees who seem bettwr than him/her. However, this particular quote serves to be a witty reminder to all of us that size does not matter when making an impact; rather it is action which matters.
Take for instance the mosquito. A small insect whose importance lies only in its existence, but can still affect our lives. Just like a mosquito, an individual’s ideas, consistencies, and attitudes can make a difference even more than expected.
It is easy for us to understate our little contributions such as taking care when replying to a message, assisting your co-worker, or taking the initiative to do something little but significant. Such deeds might not have much significance individually, but collectively, they establish trust, credibility, and influence.
Another perspective this statement provides is that it does not allow us to use any excuse. We always ask, "What will I change?" However, we must understand that we do not require a specific designation to become change-makers. We do not require a huge platform to express our opinions and ideas. In some cases, all we need is the determination, just like the mosquito which cannot be ignored.
In the workplace, there are times when it is not about making grand gestures that make the impact, but it is about consistency and presence, which means contributing in whatever way possible.
The other lesson that one can get from this statement is self-confidence. As soon as you start to believe in the importance of your contribution, people will recognize it as well. It does not depend on whether you are doing things that occupy most of your day, because self-confidence will emerge from the awareness of the importance of whatever you do, regardless of the size of this contribution.
Finally, all successful careers are based on regular small things. Large accomplishments cannot occur overnight; they appear due to numerous smaller accomplishments that preceded them. Therefore, you need to concentrate on your impact no matter where you are. Sometimes, small presence makes the greatest difference.
