×Foxconn on Thursday said it has been 'closely cooperating with local authorities' in the investigation of a shocking incident that came to light of a 19-year-old worker who allegedly gave birth inside a toilet at the iPhone maker's Devanahalli unit and then went on to kill her newborn moments later.
After giving birth, she allegedly used a sharp object to harm the newborn and concealed the body inside a bag within the toilet, until it was discovered by another employee who reported the matter.
"The well-being of our employees is our foremost concern and we are providing additional support to all of our team members in Bengaluru," Foxconn said in a statement late on Thursday night. "Due to the sensitive nature of the matter and to protect the privacy of those involved, we are unable to provide further comments."
According to police, the foetus was found in the Foxconn facility and based on a complaint filed by VS Krishnaraj, senior engineer in the company's security department, police registered a case under sections 93 and 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
