Earl Spencer has shared a statement following his girlfriend Catrine Jarman's court battle win against his ex-wife Countess Karen Spencer. Catrine, who began dating Charles in early 2024, sued her partner's ex-wife in 2024 over allegations that she misused the archaeologist's private information by disclosing details of her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis to others.
The latest details come just weeks after Earl Spencer finalised his divorce from Karen. At Court 17 in the Royal Courts of Justice, a statement was read out by Catrine's legal counsel, Dina Shiloh, which concluded the case.
The statement read: "The Claimant is relieved that these proceedings are at an end and welcomes the opportunity to put forward this statement on a unilateral basis. She remains profoundly distressed by the disclosure of her medical information by the Defendant and is disappointed that she continues to deny any liability or wrongdoing."
Following his girlfriend's win, Earl Spencer voiced his pride of the outcome in a statement.
He said: "Cat has handled every aspect of this with grace, integrity and quiet courage. She sought only what was her right: the same right to privacy that every person deserves.
"Multiple sclerosis is a serious condition; its course is uncertain and its demands are significant. Those who live with the condition deserve complete control over when, how and to whom they choose to disclose it."
Speaking of his marriage to Karen, Charles Spencer previously denied having an affair and ending his marriage by text.
He told the Daily Mail: "The notion that I would end my marriage by text is an absurd attempt to blacken my name.
"Karen ended the marriage, after endless threats to do so over the years, in early March. She asked me to confirm the end of the marriage in a text of March 18, and my reply was a simple acceptance of her decision."
The 61-year-old recently posted a series of photographs on Instagram of his visit to Oslo with Catrine. He wrote alongside the images: "Recent anniversary trip to Oslo with @catjarman - in fact, a double anniversary, as it also marked the end of my first year of not drinking. Never felt better."
