Much like several other parts of the country, the intensity of the heatwave in Rajasthan continues to rise steadily. Consequently, the Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for several districts across Rajasthan. In light of this, the District Collector of Jaipur has issued an order to modify school timings in an effort to protect children from the severe heat. Let us take a look at the revised school timings for Jaipur.

The District Collector Issues the Order

Jaipur District Collector Sandesh Nayak has implemented a significant change in school timings, taking into account the heatwave alert issued by the Meteorological Department. While issuing the order, he stated that due to the rising temperatures, school hours for students ranging from primary grades through Class 8 will be from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM. This directive applies to all educational institutions, whether government-run or private. Any school that fails to comply with this order will face disciplinary action.

Heat Continues to Intensify in Rajasthan

It is noteworthy that the impact of the heat in Rajasthan is steadily increasing. According to the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur (IMD), maximum temperatures across most parts of the state are consistently being recorded between 40°C and 42°C—figures that are 2 to 3 degrees higher than normal. The general public is facing considerable distress due to the intense sunlight and hot winds.

What Will the Weather Be Like Next Week?

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in the state is expected to remain dry for the upcoming 4 to 5 days. During this period, temperatures are projected to rise by an additional 1 to 2 degrees Celsius. As a result, maximum temperatures in most districts could reach between 41°C and 43°C. Specifically, a warning has been issued regarding the likelihood of heatwave conditions (known locally as ‘Loo’) occurring at certain locations in Northern Rajasthan between April 23 and April 25.

Keep These Points in Mind

According to doctors, the sun is particularly intense between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. One should avoid venturing out into the sun during this time. If stepping out is unavoidable, be sure to carry an umbrella to protect yourself from the sun. Additionally, consume lemon water, coconut water, or ORS at regular intervals to prevent dehydration. Furthermore, wear light-colored cotton clothing.
