The Embassy of India in Italy has rejected allegations made by an Indian national in a viral social media video, calling the claims “false and fabricated.” The response came after a video circulated online in which the individual alleged issues while seeking assistance at the Embassy.

In an official statement posted on its social media handle, the Embassy said the individual had visited its premises but refused to comply with mandatory identification requirements.

Embassy cites security protocol

The Embassy stated, “We have seen a video made by a certain Indian national. Claims being made by him are false and fabricated. He had come to the Embassy and we were ready to meet him, but he refused to show his identity/passport. We follow some standard security protocols for visitors to the Embassy.”


Officials said identity verification is a standard procedure for all visitors and is required before entry or assistance can be provided.

Viral video alleges lack of support

The video, shared on platforms such as Instagram, shows the individual claiming he did not receive assistance from the Embassy during his visit.


The Embassy did not disclose the identity of the individual but maintained that due process was followed during the interaction.

Reaffirming its position, the Embassy said it remains committed to assisting Indian nationals in the country. It added that it conducts regular outreach efforts within the Indian community.

“The Embassy remains committed to offering all possible assistance to Indian nationals. We have a regular outreach to all members of the Indian community,” the statement said.

The clarification comes amid increased scrutiny of consular services through social media, where grievances are often shared publicly by individuals abroad.
