It is clear that the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) in the music industry is growing rapidly. According to music streaming platform Deezer, as many as 44 percent of new songs uploaded to the platform are now AI-produced. About 75,000 AI-generated tracks are uploaded every day, and the figure is over 20 lakhs a month. Due to this growing trend, the music industry is witnessing a major change.

However, the use of AI-generated music is still limited. Only 1 to 3 percent of all streaming songs are AI-generated. As many as 85 percent of these streams are identified as fraudulent and monetized by the company. So even though the use of AI music is increasing, there are also efforts to control it.

AI song uploads have steadily increased over the past few months. In January, 60,000 tracks were uploaded daily, in November, 50,000, in September, 30,000, and at the beginning of 2025, only 10,000 tracks were uploaded. Deezer has developed a special tool for AI music recognition, through which such songs are identified. Deezer has made some important decisions to control AI-generated songs. Such songs are removed from algorithmic recommendations and not included in editorial playlists. The company has also decided to stop storing hi-res versions of AI songs now.

Meanwhile, the impact of AI songs has grown to such an extent that an AI-generated song recently topped the iTunes charts in the US, United Kingdom, France, Canada and New Zealand. Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier said, “AI music is no longer a small trend. The entire music industry needs to come together to protect artists’ rights and maintain transparency.” According to a survey conducted by Deezer, 97 percent of people cannot tell the difference between AI and human songs. Also 52 percent said AI songs should not be included in the main chart. While 80 percent people have demanded that there should be a clear label on AI songs.

Interestingly, Deezer started tagging AI songs from June 2025, tagging 1.34 crore AI tracks in that year itself. Other platforms like Spotify and Apple Music are also using different methods for AI music. So it is clear that the convergence of AI and music will grow even faster in the future.
